Rose Bouquet Coaster · Free Crochet Pattern & Video Tutorial

It's always a big plus to be able to crochet multipurpose items. Better yet, if it's both functional AND makes cute decor! You'll have just that with my newest free pattern design, the Rose Bouquet Coaster!  It's no-sew, quick, and easy to work up.

Scroll down for the free written pattern instructions as well as the step-by-step video tutorial.

The Rose Bouquet Coaster is a no-sew crochet pattern that features a dozen rose buds embellishing the edges of a lacy coaster. There are two variations for the flowers to create both a young rosebud and a more mature rose with blooming petals.

Front: young rosebuds
Back: blooming rose

A flower pot pattern is included as a storage container, so that the coaster serves as a bouquet of a dozen roses and makes a lovely home decor item for a windowsill or office desk.

About the Pattern

  • No sew!
  • Quick to work up
  • Includes 2 different flower variations
  • Includes a flower pot for storage
  • Style tags: vintage, fairytale, cottagecore.

Yarn

You can crochet the Maisie Bow with different types of yarns, but if you'd like to make one just like mine, the yarn I used was Hobbii Olivin Yarn! It's a sport weight #2 yarn, and I used a 3.25mm crochet hook for the entire project.

If you'd like to crochet a larger coaster, you can use a thicker weight yarn and larger hook size!

    Use green yarn.

R1: Start with a MR. Ch 4 (counts as first dc + ch). (Dc, ch) x 11. Tighten the ring, then join with a sl st between the starting ch and dc. (12 dc, 12 ch sp)

R2: Ch 3 (counts as first dc), insert a dc in the same ch sp, ch. (Insert 2 dc in the next ch sp, ch) x 11. Join with a sl st to the top of the starting ch-3. (24 dc, 12 ch sp)

R5: (Sl st into the next ch-5 sp. [Ch 3, {dc, ch} x 4, ch 2, sl st] in the same ch-5 sp) x 12. Join with a sl st to the first st. (12 “petals”)

FO with a tail and weave in all ends.

    Part 2: FLOWER

    Use pink or red yarn.

    R1 (bud)

Attach yarn to the first ch sp of a petal. Ch 3, insert 4 dc in the same ch sp. Pull your loop high, then insert hook between the starting ch and the first dc. Pull the active loop through to “bundle” the dc together into a popcorn st. Ch to secure the popcorn.

(Insert 4 dc between the next 2 dc. Pull your loop high, then insert hook between the previous popcorn and the 4 dc you just made. Pull the active loop through to “bundle” the dc together into a popcorn st. Ch to secure the popcorn.) x repeat across until you have 5 popcorns.

Sl st into the first popcorn’s ch, which will “bundle” the 5 popcorns together.

FO and weave in the ends if you want to stop here with a small rose bud. If you want to crochet the petals, continue with R2.

    R2 (petals):

(Insert 2 petals* in the same ch sp. Sl st into the next ch sp.) x repeat around. (8 petals)

*Petal: Ch, dc 2, ch, sl st in the ch sp.

Tip: The ch sp is between each of the popcorn stitches.

FO with a tail and weave in the ends.

Repeat around the coaster until you have a total of 12 flowers.

    Use yellow or brown yarn.

R1: Insert 6 sc in a MR. Tighten the ring. (6)

    R2: Inc around. (12)

    R3: (Sc, inc) x 6. (18)

    R4: (Sc 2, inc) x 6. (24)

R5: Sc around in BLO. (24)

    R6: Sc around. (24)

    R7: (Sc 7, inc) x 3. (27)

    R8-R9: Sc around. (27)

    R10: (Sc 8, inc) x 3. (30)

    R11: Sc around. (30)

    Sl st in next st.

R12 (rim): Ch 3, turn. We will now work in the other direction. Dc around in BLO. Join with a sl st to the top of the first dc. (30)

FO with a tail for weaving in. Fold the rim (R12) down over the flower pot.
