This is a highly-requested no-sew pattern! Say hello to the POCKET PENGUIN! This little guy looks so cute in different yarn fibers and weights, and even comes with a bonnet hat and scarf pattern!
LINKS
Pocket Penguin is a quick, easy, and no-sew baby penguin with a scarf and bonnet hat.
This amigurumi features realistic color changes on the head, as well as crochet methods to make the beak and 3-toed feet. This fluffy antarctic bird is able to stand up on its own, and makes a great keychain!
The initial inspiration for this amigurumi penguin is from Pingu’s little sister, Pinga.
About the Pattern
- Easy / beginner-friendly
- Works up quickly
- No-sew
- Stashbuster project; great for using up leftover yarn scraps
- Can be turned into a keychain
- Available as a FREE video tutorial
Uses
There are many ways to make use of this pattern, such as:
- Keychain: add a keyring
- Ornament: add a hanging loop for your Christmas tree
- Scent Sachet: stuff it with a satchel of lavender (or your favorite scent) to make it into a soothing diffuser for your car, office, or room
- Pin cushion: just stick in your pins to have it serve as a pincushion
- Gift: for family and friends as a birthday gift, Christmas holiday gift
- "Pocket pal" or fidget: suitable as a portable therapy aid or security toy for kids and penguin-loving adults
- Craft fair product: sell it at markets; it's the perfect market prep pattern to work up because it's quick, easy, and will surely grab attention! Great for Christmas or winter markets.
Yarn
It can also be crocheted with different yarn weights and fibers to create different looks! Below is the penguin I crocheted using 100% cotton medium weight 4 yarn, such as Lion Brand's 24/7 Cotton Yarn. It's a great keychain size, and I love the stitch definition.
For the penguin below, I used a polyester yarn that creates a chenille and velvet look. This penguin turned out to be fluffy, plush, squishy, and super soft! Since the yarn is thicker, I used a larger hook size as well (5mm) and this penguin turned out larger than the previous.
