Uses
There are many ways to make use of this pattern, such as:
- Keychain: add a keyring
- Ornament: add a hanging loop
- Pin cushion: just stick in your pins to have it serve as a pincushion
- Home decor: set it on your office desk or in a display cabinet for July 4th / Independence Day. A cute idea to show some patriotism is to give your eagle a tiny American flag to hold!
- Gift: for family and friends
- Craft fair product: sell it at summer markets; it's the perfect market prep pattern to work up because it's quick, easy, and will surely grab attention!
- Random Acts of Crochet Kindness: hide them around in the community with a little message as gifts to whoever finds them! Would be awesome to hide these right around Fourth of July for some patriotic American spirit, or use them as party favors during a BBQ. Crocheting these mini eagles for charity is another idea.
Yarn
I designed this plush chicken using velvet chenille yarn and a 5mm hook, and it has resulted in a very squishy and soft birdie! My recommended plush yarns would be Hobbii yarn (Honey Bunny, Toucan, or Baby Snuggle).
Of course, you can also try thinner yarns or other types of fibers to create a different look. For instance, worsted medium weight 4 yarn (e.g., Lion Brand Heartland, 24/7 Cotton Yarn, Brava Worsted or Caron Simply Soft) and a smaller hook (2.75mm) will produce a small, keychain-sized bald eagle. It would make the perfect "backpack buddy"!

- Make a ch, then insert a dc under the same 2 center sts.
- FO with a long tail and pull both the starting and ending yarn tails into the head. Tie them together securely inside.
- Pinch on the beak to make it pointier.
Stuff the body and continue stuffing as you work the last two rounds.EYES: Count 2 sts from the side of the beak and attach 10mm eyes.
R13: (Sc, dec) x 8. (16)
R14: Dec around. (8)
FO with a long tail for sewing the hole shut.
TAIL
Use white yarn. The tail takes up 3 sts of space on the back of the body, between R11-R12.- Look to see where you want the tail to be positioned between R11-R12 of the Body. Holding the body upside-down, insert hook under the leftmost st. Pull yarn through.
- (Ch 2 + dc + ch 2 + sl st in the same st), repeat this for each of the 3 sts to make 3 tail feathers.
- FO with a tail and weave in the ends.
NECK FEATHERS
Use white yarn.- Insert hook under the first unworked front loop created in R7 of the body. Pull white yarn through.
- (Sl st, dc) around.
- FO with a tail and weave in the ends.

- Ch, turn, sk a st, sc in next st. Sc. Sl st.
- FO with a tail and weave in the ends.
- Repeat steps 1-4 for the second wing.

Note: Below are crochet instructions for the feet. If you’d rather embroider the feet, that is another good option for this doll.Use orange yarn. Each foot takes up 2 sts of space on the body, between R12-R13.
- Insert hook under 2 sts between R12-R13, where you want the foot to go. Pull yarn through.
- Ch and insert a dc under the same 2 sts.
- FO with a tail and weave in the ends.
