Plush Doll Bases eBook · 7 No-Sew Amigurumi Crochet Pattern Bundle

Love making dolls? How about NO-SEW dolls that you can customize ANY way you want? I think you'll enjoy my newest pattern bundle, which I'm releasing as a big eBook! It's the ultimate eBook for crocheters who love working with plush yarn (though it also turns out great with “regular” yarns as well), hate sewing, and want a variety of sizes to work with!

The Plush Doll Bases is a 7-pattern bundle designed by Sweet Softies. Each doll base pattern is completely no-sew and features a different height for you to create your own personalized family of dolls. These crochet patterns are perfect body bases to make into custom characters!

Patterns in the Bundle:

  • Baby - 2.5 inches
  • Toddler - 4 inches
  • Child - 6 inches
  • Older Child - 8 inches
  • Teen - 10 inches
  • Short Adult - 11 inches
  • Tall Adult - 12 inches

Customization Ideas

Need some ideas on how to customize your doll bases? Here are some that my community have shared!
  • Real-life family members (these make great gifts for Mother's Day, Father's Day, anniversaries, weddings, and more)
  • DnD characters
  • Favorite anime or cartoon characters
  • Favorite artists, actors, singers, and other celebrities (maybe a favorite boy band or girl band!)
  • Cultural dolls wearing traditional attire
If you’d like to personalize your doll, check out the “Plush Doll Customization” eBook (product and link coming soon!) by Sweet Softies. It includes tips, tutorials, and patterns to help you dress and customize your doll.

Here's how one of my incredibly talented testers, @cadencesclosetco, modeled her doll bases after her family! I'm in awe over how on-point it is! Such a sweet way to capture her beautiful family in time!

Helpful Video Tutorials

Some helpful video tutorial links are included in the pattern to help with the following:

Stuffing

I stuff the bodies and heads of my dolls, while leaving the arms and legs unstuffed. Not stuffing the limbs creates a “ragdoll” style effect. You are welcome to stuff those parts if desired, but do note that many are quite thin and may be a challenge to stuff evenly.

@mycrazycatcrochet customized her dolls in such a creative way! Don't you love the colorful effect of the variegated yarn?

Estimated Time

The estimated time to crochet each doll is included in the eBook, with the Baby taking 14 minutes and the Tall Adult taking 75 minutes. This time is the time that it takes me (an experienced crocheter) to make each one from start to finish without breaks. I have included the time as a helpful guideline, but please be aware that each crocheter works at their own pace. It is good practice to work at an enjoyable, comfortable speed to avoid hand pain/cramps.

Yarn & Doll Size

This pattern is designed using super bulky weight chenille yarn for a plush, soft look. I used Hobbii's Honey Bunny yarn. Other types of yarn weights and fibers can also be used for this pattern. It is recommended to use the appropriate hook size for the yarn weight you select, with the goal being to crochet tight stitches so that stuffing does not show through. Yarn weight, hook size, and individual tension affect the resulting size of the doll. For instance, thinner yarn and a smaller hook will result in a smaller doll. Tighter tension results in a smaller doll. It is important to keep a consistent tension when making the different dolls for the resulting size differences to be clear.

@creative_cuddles_by_beth treated her adorable dolls to vacay outfits! They're off to make some core memories in tropical paradise!
