Coming at you with another no-sew amigurumi pattern! Say hello to this easy instant-gratification project that you can crank out in one sitting: LEGGY TEDDY!
The Leggy Teddy is an adorable no-sew bear pattern that works up quickly and easily. It's suitable for familiar beginner crocheters! This portable, pocket-sized friend is 5.5 inches tall and perfect for children to take on the go.
About the Pattern
- Easy / beginner-friendly
- Works up quickly
- No-sew
- Easy to customize
- Stashbuster project; great for using up yarn scraps (try alternating colors for the body to create a "shirt"!)
- Can be turned into a keychain
Look at that cute little tail!
Uses
There are many ways to make use of this pattern, such as:
- Keychain: add a keyring
- Ornament: add a hanging loop for your Christmas tree and give your bear a tiny Santa hat!
- Christmas stocking stuffer
- Party favors
- Gift: for family and friends as a gender neutral and unisex birthday gift, Christmas holiday gift, or anytime gift!
- "Pocket pal" or fidget: suitable as a portable therapy aid or security toy for kids and bear-loving adults. They can also be “worry dolls” to ease nerves and anxiety. Make them for children with autism, sensory needs, or other special needs to calm down and self-regulate by holding onto it and practicing breathing.
- Craft fair product: sell it at markets; it's the perfect market prep pattern to work up because it's fast and easy! Great for all seasons!
Yarn
This mini amigurumi is designed with super bulky velvet chenille yarn, which gives it a really plush and soft look! I used Hobbii's Baby Snuggle Yarn in the color "Teddy Bear" (isn't it so aptly named?) and love the results.
However, if you'd like to make a smaller version, which could be the perfect size for a keychain to attach to a backpack, purse, or tote bag, you can use this same pattern with a thinner yarn! Try worsted medium weight 4 or DK yarn and a smaller crochet hook.
My worsted weight yarn recommendations are:
- Lion Brand Heartland (100% acrylic with beautiful, heathered yarn)
- Lion Brand's 24/7 Cotton Yarn (100% cotton and will produce crisp stitch definition)
- Brava Worsted or Caron Simply Soft (100% acrylic, sturdy, and pretty good bang for your buck!)
